The full list can be found here:

http://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/wildlife/threatened-species/changes-additions-december-2014.html

Most pertinently, it affects Grey Goshawk, Lewin's Rail and Black-necked Stork, as well as several species that could conceivably be found in the area, e.g. Square-tailed Kite, Freckled Duck & Cotton Pygmy-goose. Word is there is a further round of amendments expected soon, potentially impacting more relevant species. Obviously there are other criteria to weigh, but it concerns me that a strong case for protecting key habitats and ecosystems like this is becoming harder and harder to build.

I do hope that these wetlands will eventually be protected; the idea for turning it over to a dedicated conservation area is, to my mind, too good to not consider.

RYAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708258683294269863.post-4521985007231170582014-12-18T10:44:25.761+10:002014-12-18T10:44:25.761+10:00Benjamin, They are quite common about Maiala Natio...Benjamin, They are quite common about Maiala National Park , including along Browns Road.Greg Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17128471435023525995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708258683294269863.post-67205394429487006772014-12-18T10:43:20.032+10:002014-12-18T10:43:20.032+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.Greg Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17128471435023525995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708258683294269863.post-65641834628547071442014-12-17T10:58:21.300+10:002014-12-17T10:58:21.300+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03635196733886653326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708258683294269863.post-86589774195110814182014-12-15T09:09:58.364+10:002014-12-15T09:09:58.364+10:00Thanks for the suggestion Peter, which has been pa...Thanks for the suggestion Peter, which has been passed on to the federal Minister.Greg Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17128471435023525995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708258683294269863.post-37779778057224740882014-12-15T09:03:56.600+10:002014-12-15T09:03:56.600+10:00Thanks Jason. It may be that offset funds could be used to purchase Yandina Wetlands to provide protection for APS habitat.
